Education at Mount Zion

Schools and Colleges

Our learning programme reflects the locally Agreed Syllabus for RE Believing and Belonging in West Yorkshire, but sessions are cross curricular, incorporating history, geography, art, English, citizenship and SMSC. We also offer age appropriate learning focusing on special days and annual events, for example Peace Day, Remembrance, Black History Month, International Women’s Day and Interfaith Week. Our learning offer is designed to acknowledge the diverse nature of British society in the 21st century.  Sessions and workshops are usually led by a qualified teacher and all supporting staff have a current DBS certificate.

Primary – Foundation, Key Stage 1 and 2

Young children are welcome to explore this special space, to experience the objects, sights and sounds and discover the stories that the building tells. Opportunities are provided for children to reflect and respond creatively to their experience. Activities are differentiated according to age.

Secondary – Key Stage 3 and 4 and Post 16

As well as covering aspects of Believing and Belonging in West Yorkshire our secondary school provision covers key elements of GCSE RE programmes of study and offers opportunities to explore historical and contemporary responses to issues of social justice; encouraging students to contemplate difficult questions about Christianity, different world religions, alternative world views and to reflect and respond creatively to being in a unique space.
